On the first Friday of each month, First Friday Denver develops the city into a hive of creative activities. Citizens and tourists are welcome to spend time in the unique content of Denver’s artistic scene during this monthly event. First Friday Denver is highlighted by dynamic energy that fills the streets as galleries, studios, and restaurants open their doors.
Art Walk on Santa Fe – First Friday Denver
First Friday: 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Locals and tourists can enjoy the First Friday Art Walk on Santa Fe Drive. It takes place in the center of Denver’s Art District, each month. Tourists can view some of the most outstanding painters in the area and tour several galleries during this free event. Although it’s a great place to visit all year round, summertime brings a lot of activities, so visitors should be prepared for increased crowds.
Art Walk at Denver’s Art District – First Friday Denver
First Friday: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
One of the city’s three First Friday art walks is a great place to peruse art galleries and add a new piece to your collection. Guests may make an evening out of it by shopping at one of the many independent shops that line the street, enjoying live music, or getting dinner and drinks at one of the neighborhood food trucks.
Events are held along the First Friday Art Walk from Inca to Kalamath and from 13th Ave to Alameda. But, the majority of activity in Santa Fe occurs between the 5th and 11th. Since there are about 20,000 people that attend this event, it’s usually advisable to ride the light rail, which stops nearby at 10th and Osage.
Tennyson Street Cultural District
First Friday: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Tennyson Street, home of Denver’s oldest art walk, is an event with street entertainers and food vendors at every corner. It originates from the Berkeley neighborhood. At the Kirk Norlin Studio, nature enthusiasts can marvel at the magnified digital images of foliage, flowers, fruits, and stones. Or, Ryan Rice’s vibrant paintings at R2 Studio and Gallery are sure to make you laugh.
Ideal Art Walk for Those who enjoy music. During the warmer months, street musicians play, and when the galleries close, you may watch a concert at the Oriental Theatre.
40 West Arts District – First Friday Denver
First Friday: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Art walks are not limited to the Denver municipal limits; the First Friday events in Lakewood’s 40 West Arts District are evidence of this. A short drive from downtown Denver, the 40 West Arts District is a Certified Colorado Creative District with more than 70 public art pieces and dozens of creative businesses situated within the historic West Colfax Corridor.
Every First Friday, there’s an opening reception at the 40 West Arts Gallery on Teller Street. It features paintings, glassblowing, and other local creatives’ creations. Look for the 4-mile Artline, which links the district’s parks and artistic locations and is accessible by bike and foot.
Family art walks are the best. Forty The West Arts District offers several dining alternatives, such as Casa Bonita, a beloved local establishment with cliff-diving shows and unlimited sopapillas owned by the South Park creators.
First Friday Denver captures all the elements of a vibrant and welcoming cultural event as the evening wears on and the streets turn into a canvas for artistic expression.
